Med Evac helicopters to fly in for ceremony at NCMC

The two new North Colorado Med Evac helicopters are scheduled to make a rare joint appearance today for a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Greeley.

The ceremony will officially recognize the recent expansion of North Colorado Medical Center's medical air transport program, with both helicopters landing approximately 10 a.m. in the east parking lot of the hospital near 16th Street and 17th Avenue. The helicopters are scheduled to depart approximately 11:30 a.m.

The hospital's east parking lot will be blocked off to accommodate the helicopters and the ceremony, said Gene Haffner, NCMC public relations director. Visitors to the hospital this morning can park in the two lots on the south side of 16th Street, he added.

"We also wanted to let the community know that there is no need for concern when they see both helicopters in the air and on landing approach as it is a planned activity and not an emergency situation," Haffner stated in a news release.

The medical air transport program is operated in partnership with Med-Trans Corp., which is headquartered in Dallas. Representatives of Med-Trans and members of the North Colorado Med Evac flight team will be on hand to answer questions and display the two new Bell 407 helicopters, according to the release.

One helicopter is based at NCMC and the other at the Erie Municipal Air Park.
