New federal funding to be made available to local emergency food and shelter programs
Staff Reports March 8, 2008 CommentsPrintEmail Emergency food and shelter programs could be eligible to receive a little extra financial help.
Applications to receive new federal funding are now being accepted after an allocation of $114,971 in federal funding from the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program to Weld County.
According to a release, local service organizations wishing to receive funding are required to meet five requirements: they must be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, have an accounting system, practice non-discrimination, have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs and must finally have a voluntary board if they are private voluntary organizations.
The United Way of Weld County has been chosen to lead the board that will allocate the funding. As a result, those interested in applying for the funding may contact Elizabeth Barber of the United Way of Weld County at (970) 353-4300 ext. 2583. The deadline to turn in applications is 12 p.m. on March 24.
